Review of McLintock! (1963) by Gerry N — 18 Jun 2007
It's not just romantic comedies aimed at teen audiences that borrow plots from Shakespeare. This classic Western comedy starring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara takes the gist of the story and at least one character name (O'Hara's)from "The Taming of the Shrew".
There is a delightful irony in the fact that this film came out the same year as Betty Friedan's "The Feminine Mystique". Thanks to the horrible influence of the movement launched by that damnable screed, movies like this are not made today.
