See how easy it is to warm my heart? This movie screams formula! formula! formula! But Costner and the mostly unknown hispanic tell the same old story with energy and passion. Costner plays a disgraced football coach who could only get a job as an assistant in the poor (and completely hispanic) town of Mcfarland.
He quickly loses his coaching job, and notices that some of his students run fast. Very fast. He gets a ragtag cross County team together and it's onto state! Sure it's a cliche, it's also the Truth.
So go Mcfarland. Go sports movies.
