Review of McFarland, USA (2015) by Cl 9 — 24 Feb 2015
There's nothing earth shattering or groundbreaking in the movie McFarland USA, but it's certainly an enjoyable story and better then some of the sports based true stories we have seen come out as of late.
I don't think there is any spot in America where people don't see workers who survive on worker all day every day, and know what a tough light that is. Where this movie excels is bringing to light these people without making a giant deal out of it.
In this movie, those who pick the fruit and vegetable fields in California are grateful for their work and rely upon all family members to get it done. What I like about this movie is that it shows the value that being a part of a team and striving for greatness can bring so much value that it's hard to measure until greatness is achieved.
The movie isn't perfect, but Kevin Costner is certainly better in this thing then any recent movie he has been in, and the teenage boys who run are good at what they do. It's a nice family movie that all should be able to enjoy.
