Review of McFarland, USA (2015) by Doug K — 02 Mar 2015
For those of us who don't take in many inspirational films with a sports theme, we don't regard them as old hat. That was among the reasons I ranked McFarland USA as the best sports movie I've seen since Hoosiers, a film to which McFarland USA bears a strong resemblance.
I thought the direction, the writing and the stable of little-known actors (beyond Kevin Costner and Maria Bello) all enhanced the project. Who ever thought you could make a good film about cross country?
