Review of McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) by Patrick B — 19 Aug 2008
This may not be the original revisionist western (Peckinpah's opera of violence, the Wild Bunch, holds that title) but this film was the most 'revisionist' of the westerns. Warren Beatty and Julie Christie are great in the titular roles, and they are surrounded by beautiful sets.
The cinematography captures the beauty and brutality of the Northwest in the 19th Century. A masterpiece of the western genre, and a masterpiece of the art of cinema.
