Review of McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) by Joseph V — 01 Sep 2009
A somber, and yet lively, Western done in the Altman style. The cinematography by Vilmos Zsigmond is masterful. In particular, the sequences in the snow at the end are some of the most beautiful and poetic shots I've ever seen in a movie.
It absorbs us in a time and place that doesn't feel like a set or studio. It's simply McCabe's town.
