Review of McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971) by Alec B — 12 Jul 2016
It has been a few years since I last watched this movie but am remembering it fondly this week for some reason. I love that this movie takes the glamorous parts of Westerns and turns them a little bit on their ear: the tragic violence, the humanity of the not-so-tough gunfighter, the mud, the risks of whore houses, the lack of honor/rules in gun fighting, the corruption and the might-makes-right greed.
This is a very human film in a beautiful setting in a classic genre.
