Review of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) by Ben B — 15 Jan 2018
I really enjoyed the book series but the choice to go free range on the material leaves the film quite hollow. The plot is okay but the bigger is better is clearly on display here. nothing is really explained and things are happening without any focus to the characters. The book is largely ignored compared to the first movie, I feel like they missed an opportunity here to expand the universe.
I'm watching this in preparation for the finale but it is still very different compared to the superior original film. I actually gave the book a better rating on Goodreads compared to the first book, it actually turned the world upside down which this movie does not. I don't even know the film is called The Scorch Trials, it has nothing to do with the book it is named after. 16/01/2018.
