Review of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015) by Andruw F — 04 Apr 2016
With 1/3 of the writers from the original, the sequel to The Maze Runner is VERY disappointing! The first third of the movie is good! It is continuing where we left off at the end of the first one! And like the first movie, there is great acting, and it's well directed and written, as well as very thrilling, mysterious, and dark! Then the second two parts happen, and they are NOT good, and lose all the great things from the first movie and the first third! There was also a cameo that was WASTED! It also somehow became almost a road trip movie, and was very boring. (I also heard that this one doesn't really follow the book, which is probably why it sucked.) In the end, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials started off great to make people think the rest would be good. But it failed miserably, and only gets fresh because I still cared about the characters, and it wasn't a BAD movie because it still had a good production value, so there were some cool things to look at, and good performances! But honestly, the beginning of the movie was good enough that even if after that, everything sucked, it would still get a fresh rating.
I don't want to spoil anything, (I heard there was a trailer that showed it, but I guess I didn't see it because I went in not knowing or expecting it) but there is one new aspect of this movie that I REALLY dug, and thought was executed greatly! But it's only in the movie once!
