Review of Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018) by Justin B — 27 Jan 2018
Overall this is an above-average series.
Doesn't reach the same heights as 'Harry Potter' or 'Hunger Games' but serviceable enough.
At the end of 'Scorch Trials' Teresa regained more of her memories and ultimately betrayed Thomas and his friends to WKCD.
Miho was captured and now they have to infiltrate their headquarters to get him out and restore freedom once and for all for the remaining survivors of the Flare.
Several months later, Thomas and his team attempt to break into the last major city of WCKD but he still has reservations about what to do about Teresa.
She, Ava and Jansen may be on the verge of finding a cure to this deadly virus even if it costs so many young lives in the process.
The first two acts of the film are very sluggish to say the least but the finale it's building up towards is very effective with non-stop thrills, explosions, and bringing this entire trilogy's story full circle.
There's also lots of references to the earlier entries as well as the return of a memorable player that was thought to be gone for sure.
Thomas has the make the decision to save himself or everyone else but at the same time can he make Teresa come to her senses?
Is it better to save most of mankind or all of it?
The film is a bit lengthy than the others but fans of the books and of the previous films should be satisfied nonetheless.
Slow in the beginning and the middle but makes up for it in the final reel for sure.
Not a terrible YA novel adaptation trilogy that's for certain.
