Review of Maximum Overdrive (1986) by Spookie M — 18 Jun 2009
Overall, it's not really a kind of film that horrifies you beyond belief; it will, at worst, make you jump out of your chair at a couple of points. Emilio Estevez easily does the best acting, not horribly surprising.
It's actually comical in parts that aren't necessarily supposed to be comical! Or perhaps it was Part of King's master plan of making this movie? Maybe....HA! Anyways, the music choice for this movie was amazing: AC/DC making the "Who Made Who" album solely because of this movie.
In short, it's not the best horror film in the world, due to the fact it has way too many plot holes and it's just not that scary, but it's a popcorn flick. You can't expect to find some deep meaning of life or some sort of philosophy that King is trying to bring forth (Which I think was actually think what King was trying to do, but nevermind that).
It's the kind of movie you watch on a Friday or Saturday Night with a bowl of popcorn and your Girlfriend to hold tight onto you when it starts to kind of get scary. It's just hilarious to say AC/DC's "Who Made Who" album (and song) became bigger successes than this flop.
It's not bad, but not amazing either.
