Review of Maximum Overdrive (1986) by Emil K — 08 Sep 2008
This film shows that not only is Stephen King a good author but also a hell of a good director. Though it's strange that King goes with a more comedic tone like that of Shaun of The Dead rather than his usual macabre feel that he has in his books.
But that's not necessarly a problem, on the contrary it makes this film very entertaining. Let me break down the plot for you people, a mysteriuous comit enters Earth atmosphere and causes the worlds machinery to take on a mind on their own and go on a twisted metal killing spree of epic proportions.
The effects in this movie range from ohh my God that was so cheesey it's hysterical to ohh s**t eye can't believe that was possible to do in 1986! But eye feel that eye must warn you clownaphobics there is one truck in particular that will make you squirm.
This film makes me wish that Stephen king would direct more films because a number of his books just don't get the movie treatment they deserve. Bottom line this is a gut-busting good movie.
