Review of Maximum Overdrive (1986) by Jimi L — 29 May 2011
Tittle: MAXIMUM OVERDRIVEV.
Directed by: Stephen King (IMPORTANT).
Cast: Emilio Estevez, Pat Hingle, Laura Harrington, Yeardley Smith, John Short ...
Problem with movies based on Stephen King novels is that you are never sure weather you should comment on story or movie. Here we have one and only situation where we criticize both in one, knowing this is complete work of Stephen.
Film is set at gas station where different characters meet, running from machines that got live wild. Unlike other movies where machines has artificial intelligence and scientific background, this movie/book, points on situation above human understanding, which always lead to new questions and contribution to art and science. Story does not get global in plot, even though whole world is "under machines".
Characters were picked very "Stephen King taste". From ignorent American republican citizens, to very bright working class hero-characters.
Not high quality, but for Stephen King fans and script writers educational.
