Review of Max Payne (2008) by Mark W — 24 May 2010

If you are a Max Payne fanboy, you would have hated this movie. It suffers from the game to movie stigma, where gamers want to criticize it because it wasn't the game, and non-gamers are turned off because it was a game.

Unfortunately most movies blow if they follow the game to closely, they lose something in the translation from game to cinema. I think the writers and director here realized this and knew they couldn't make everyone happy so decided to tell a story that would translate well.

I found this movie wasn't to bad if you just watched it for itself. Decent movie with good action, but not great.
