Review of Max Manus: Man of War (2008) by Peter Piotr K — 08 Mar 2009
Expensive cartoon-like story about a guy who won the Second World War almost alone and by himself by sinking The Donau ship. A comforting story for all the Norwegians that can keep on believing that they did have resistance movement and forget the other part about helping the other side in active and passive way.
All controversy avoided (WIKIPEDIA: "In the years after the war, Manus also hired people who had been convicted for collaborating with Nazi Germany, among them Walter Fyrst Manus did this after internal discussions and was motivated by a wish for reconciliation, as well as professional considerations").
Axel Hennie puts a spark of life to the character.
The special FX look artificial in 2nd WW stories,"MAx Manus" is one of them, Polanskis "Pianist" another.
