Review of Matinee (1993) by Michael V — 19 Jul 2011
Absolute fun. Goodman is spot-on brilliant, and his manic energy and bug-eyed enthusiasm recalls Zero Mostel in the original Producers. The director also manages to capture the peculiar flavor of 1962 culture, the transition between nerdy '50s and question authority 60s.
The kids are good, too. Proof that Kubrick wasn't the only one who could have fun with the Cuban Crisis.
