Review of Material Girls (2006) by Don S — 10 Jul 2011
Much like Cow Belles, this movie stars two sisters, one of whom was made famous by the Disney Channel. Both of these Disney girls have branched out into music (and I like both of them {for their acting and music} - for those who haven't seen Cow Belles, I'm talking about Alison Michalka of Aly & AJ). Cow Belles is a sweet little movie in which two little rich girls lose their fortune and have to work in a factory to learn the value of money and friendship. Material Girls is the same movie basically, only not as sweet. Same plot, same type of characters, same moral. Nothing original here - almost a complete copy except in one, the father is alive and in this one, the father is dead. Both movies came out in 2006... I guess the saying is true: there is nothing new under the sun. Here, the acting is decent; the girls look great... worth a look, but keep your expectations toned down.
