Review of Match Point (2005) by Sherry L — 29 Nov 2009
I don't quite understand the hype about this. I mean I don't think this is bad, it's actually very good acting and directing but the problem is that I need some variation in this old story; rich boy is unfaithful with femme fatale. Femme fatale gets pregnant/ alternative wants him to leave wife. Rich boy gets lots of pressure- kills femme fatale. For a film-noir-geek like me, we have seen this once or twice too many times for this to be interesting.
Despite that, I still think Allen did a very good job with this, he really succeeds in creating this monotony in the life of the main character which makes us understand better why he act the way he does. Very professional. And one cannot complain about the actors either. Really professional as well.
