Review of Match Point (2005) by Bieblog H — 25 Sep 2009
One of the best Allen films I've seen, hands down. The film is framed by the "luck" dialogue at the outset, but it's interesting to see how the lead character's idea of luck interacts with his own responsibility for what he's done.
This is a film that on the face of it seems to be about the randomness of the universe, yet all the while everything screams out for him to take responsibility for his actions. Allen's handling of this narrative, esp.
the suspense, was well-controlled and executed.
