My views on this movie are far from objective. I watched this constantly as a kid and enjoyed the hell out of it, despite how different it was from the cartoon. It's cheesy, action packed, muscular people carried giant weapons around, and stuff blew up.
A lot. What more could a kid ask for in the 80s?
