Review of Master of the Flying Guillotine (1976) by Matt C — 05 Jun 2007
Classic. Pure classic. One of Wang Yu's most renowned films, and one of his best. He takes his One Armed Boxer series to the climax here. It has a one armed Chinese boxer, along with a blind man who yields a flying guillotine. It's a simple tale of revenge, but based around a tournament. Just the perfect kung fu revenge movie. Full of all kinds of unique characters, some of which even inspired characters from Street Fighter II.
Do yourself a favor, and see this on a Friday night with some friends.
The soundtrack is also awesome too, this electric like techno-esque music, perfect for this film.
