Review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003) by Dennis M — 13 Jan 2010
I think most people lauded this as a movie capitilizing on the popularity of the pirates of the carribean series but I digress, this movie is showing pirates how its naval battles should have been. gritty and in your face the action of this movie is far more realistic and exciting then anything in the pirates series.
But the true merit of this film comes form its story. Its a classic war movie as it shows the struggles of the men on board. dealing very much with the interpersonal relationships of crew members and the struggles russel crowes charecter has as captain. excellent film 100% does not do it justice.
