Review of Mask (1985) by Stephanie J — 10 Mar 2008
No, this is not that Jim Carrey movie where he spins around with a green face! This is a beautiful movie based on a true story starring Eric Stoltz and Cher. Stoltz plays Rocky, a young man with a rare disease that not only risks his life, but disfigures his face too.
Although sometimes you feel incredibly sad, he often deals with his disease in comical and light-hearted ways. There are some very sweet humourous scenes. Cher is amazing as his mother. She is a biker chick, she hangs out with biker mates and has biker lovers, which is probably why the movie was introduced to me at such a young age (both my parents were keen bikers back then).
I loved it as a child and still to this day... The ending gets me everytime.
