Unfortunately, MASH does not stand the test of time well. There are some great, laugh out loud moments, and some gleefully dark humor (the suicide scene), but they are too far between, and the filler is frankly not all that interesting.
There is no reason to care about these characters, and thus it is tough to engage with the movie as a whole.
