Review of Mascots (2016) by Jacob B — 31 Mar 2017
Not having seen neither Waiting for Guffman nor Best in Show, I decided to look at this film because I thought the premise regarding mascots sounded interesting. While it indeed is and the film has its moments with some credit being given to the fact that the film involved improvisation I never felt like I was being sucked into an amazing new world.
I chuckled a few times but never laughed out loudly and this film also seems to be a bit dull and its director Christopher Guest never seems to be having fun making this. If I were you, I'd attend the World Mascot Association championship once and never come back even if someone cocked a gun against my head as a threat if I don't return to see the championships again.
