Review of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) by Rob E — 04 Sep 2007
Does justice to the Mary Shelley novel. Branagh and De Niro are fine actors in this film. De Niro perfectly captures the sadness and hatred within the monster as he was abandoned by his creator and is feared by society.
Branagh does fine as the good doctor obsessed with bringing life to the dead. Helena Bonham Carter is a bit annoying in the film and her hair distracts you from the rest of the scenes she appears in. Overall, a bit slow until the monster comes in, but great makeup and an entrancing story.
