Review of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) by Graham L — 21 Feb 2008
Some of the liberties that Branagh takes with the source are for the better, and there are some gooey effects sequences that are a blast to watch, but what's really on display here is a movie that fails - collossally - to make Mary Shelley into blockbuster material.
The feverish performances are mostly irritating and the oversized sets are rather obviously sound stages. A disappointment.
