Review of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (1994) by Anthony D — 10 Mar 2010
A very disturbing movie, in a lot of different ways, and a film that suffers from a very poorly written score and a director who makes some very bad choices. However, its message is poweful and its themes come through very potently.
Robert DeNiro is magnificent as the monster, and Helena Bonham Carter is captivating as Elizabeth. The beautifully twisted ending puts it more on the side of good than bad for me. Mary Shelley's work was done justice, though it could be done better.
