Review of Mary Poppins (1964) by Grace S — 17 Jan 2012
It may not be very accessible to modern audiences with many moments bordering on silly, but then again, the children won't notice and may have just as much fun as the children who first saw in 1964.
Julie Andrews is pure magic, and Dick Van Dyke is an incredible delight and despite his horrendous accent, he manages to be a great charm. Some of the supporting cast are a bit cheesy, and some moments felt a tiny bit dragging and it may not be the timeless masterpiece as many make it out to be, but in the end, you'll have a magnificent time.
