Review of Mary Poppins (1964) by Frances H — 19 Dec 2013
Although I love this movie and the great cast, particularly Dick Van Dyke having a chance to shine as never before, what disappoints me is that the character of Mary Poppins has been so far altered from the books as to unrecognizable.
I like Julie Andrews and admire her many talents, but her Mary Poppins is too sugary sweet. But otherwise this is a great movie for kids and parents with classic musical numbers.
