Review of Mary Poppins (1964) by Emma H — 06 Jan 2019
Mary Poppins is probably in the top 5 Disney movies out there. Underneath all the complex choreography, stunning paintings, detailed animation, lovely singing, and emotional acting lies a powerful message that love should always come first.
Julie Andrews has an angelic voice that helps carry very meaningful lyrics. Dick Van Dyke's enthusiasm adds to so much of the movie's charm. The dialogue is so well scripted, and this is much of what made the message so clear.
An enjoyable movie for both young and old, I'd recommend it for sure.
