Mary Poppins is a delightful Musical that is fun for both kids and adults and has some truly inventive and original special effects and animation for 1964. Reverse shots and overlapped frames and a host of other techniques are used to capture the fantasy elements and make for some fun scenes.
The film is a little long in places but uses it's running time to pack in a tender-hearted story and many catchy songs. Julie Andrews gives a great performance and showcases her amazing voice throughout the many songs.
