This movie is like being gleefully drunk. You laugh and smile at the happy moments, but when serious moments come you take the time to calm down and actually think about what is going on. The story is very good, even though it doesn't follow the book, but it is also very laid back and is kinda like a road trip with sorta a flowing narrative.

The animated sequences are great, with its cheerful colors and interesting characters. The characters are acted well by the actors, especially Julie Andrews, who plays both the pretty and cheerful side of Mary Poppins, while also doing the serious and mysterious side too.

Dick Van Dyke's accent is horrible, but he is still giving his performance as Bert his all. He is just so active and quick in this movie, and isn't that bad of a singer. Mr. Banks is a great character, being this man who dedicates everything to his job, but loses it in the end, and is acted very well.

The songs are unforgettable, it is the magnum opus of the Sherman Brothers. The dance sequences are so well choreographed and so quick and they just end so well. The animated segments do go a little too long, but hey, the kids need something.

This is one of those perfect movies you need to see with your family.
