Review of Mary Poppins (1964) by Dan M — 04 Dec 2017
100% on RT's tomatometer means shit to me because this was an absolute chore to sit through. I pretty much knew this wasn't going to be the movie for me, a 2 hour+ musical with the most corniest numbers I've ever heard(not to mention Dick Van Dyke's atrocious take on a British accent).
I know this is a kid's movie, but I can't understand what the heck Mary Poppins is or where she comes from.. is she a witch? a sorceress? It's never explained. Anyways, I can't believe they're going to do a sequel over 50 years later to this rubbish.
If there's anything positive to say here it's that Julie Andrews was a stone cold fox back in the day. That is all.
