Review of Mary and Max (2009) by Josh S — 13 Feb 2011
This whimsical, beautiful, and disturbing stop-motion tale is truly something to behold. WIth a splash of the magic of Amelie with a slightly darker palette, this story of a child and a man with Aspergers is reverent of the smaller things in life.
Using detailed, nuanced visuals and some of the most moving existing music already in the cinematic realm, Mary and Max is a treat and had me beaming most of the way through. As a person close to someone with Aspergers, this character portrayal rang dangerously true as well.
