Review of Mary and Max (2009) by Derek H — 26 Aug 2011
An unconventional friendship revels in grotesque detail and scatological humor, but yields unexpected depth and poignancy and is sickly-cute and right-on at the same time -- often in the very same scene.
I can't remember seeing an animated feature so dark and funny and bizarre and sad and creative, all at the same time. It was five years in the making and it's worth every minute.
