Review of Marty (1955) by Steve S — 02 Jan 2011
***1/2 (out of four).
The Best Picture winner from 1955, "Marty" is an extremely well made and emotionally satisfyling drama about a lonely man tryin to gain his independence and self confidence.
Ernest Borgnine won a Best Actor Academy Award as a man liing in the Bronx with his mother. He is shy and self concious about his looks and fears he will alone forever. When he finally does meet a girl his overbearing mother tries to ruin the relationship.
Touchy and wonderfully executed.
