Review of Marty (1955) by Joel H — 24 Jan 2015
The reason that Marty works is because of the characters. Ernest Borgnine and Betsy Blair are so earnest in their performances that you can't help but root for them. The story is simple, but it's satisfying.
Is this the best film of 1955? I'm not sure. After all, 1955 is the same year that classic musicals such as Guys and Dolls and Oklahoma! were released. It is also the year that Marty McFly traveled back in time to and changed the course of history.
. .but I digress. Marty is a good film.
