Review of Martin (1978) by Lita R — 29 Jul 2007
Romero does vampires. At last. This film satisfies on two levels; first, there is ample homage to the classic vampire narrative (there is sex, blood-sucking, and murder) but secondly, this film also offers a surprisingly attentive commentary on postmodernism and suburban malaise.
The collision of these two qualities produces a delightfully ridiculous sense of pathos. The vampire-costume scene is priceless.
