Review of Martin (1978) by Senor C — 11 Oct 2011
An interesting modern (for the 70s anyways) take on the vampire. Films like this are proof that Romero should have stepped away from the zombie genre more often. He's more then capable but when the living dead is your true meal ticket why would you divert too often? It's a truly original approach where you are even left wondering in the end if Martin was a vampire but just a disturbed fuck who had a taste for blood.
I was highly impressed w/ a different twist on a familiar theme & truthfully if this caught on (or I think if people weren't so intent on Romero just delivering zombies) it could have changed another genre.
Moody & meaty Martin is Romero's 3rd best film.
