Review of Martin (1978) by Frnk N — 11 Jun 2011
Fascinating, low-budget Vampire tale from Romero. Martin was one of earliest genre pictures to offer something new to vampire lore and as such, is absolutely essential. Martin is either an actual vampire, or possibly just nuts, but either way, preys on young ladies, with a modern approach to his blood-draining techniques.
Gothic flashbacks/dreams add a degree of familiarity to the ambiguous story. It adds up to a rather sad, but compelling seventies relic.
