UPDATE 4/09/2011.

MARTIN was a real vampire . . . he drank blood AND the flashbacks REALLY ARE from 70 years prior to the main action taking place . . .

(maybe he fabricates them HOWEVER the flashbacks are too vivid . . . in my opinon).

--.

The 3-hour 16mm Version of MARTIN may be "lost" but Susanna Sparrow's novelization of the original continues to EXIST.

I FIGURED there would be quite a discrepancy between the R-T users and the "Professional Critics" . . . 73 PERCENT versus the 96 PERCENT for the critics . . .

Of course what director JJ ABRAMS describes as The Average Film-goer would find George A. Romero's MARTIN to be "inaccessible" and "underwhelming" BECAUSE there's little to no ACTION and there's little to no "classic" SCENES OF VAMPIRISM.

For today's (April 7, 2011) Average movie-going audience, "you" need THE FRAME TO BE FILLED with AS many vampires to be doing HORRIBLE things to people to even make it on the radar of the average film-goer's "taste-buds.".

I love DONALD RUBENSTEIN'S score (the brother of producer Richard Rubenstien) and paid $90.00 for an autographed vinyl LP on ebay 13 years ago.

Yet . . .when MARTIN shoots-up and rapes AND THEN Murders his victim by slitting her left wrist with an open razor and drinking her blood, I wonder now how I could possible enjoy this movie . . .

And whenever I talk with Romero at a convention (along with THOUSANDS of other Romero fans) he laughs and thinks that the fans are kind of sick . . .

ROMERO is the one who DREAMED-UP the disgusting things he puts up on screen than then looks at his fans as though they're sick in the head.

But . . . ROMERO is a HUGE TEDDY-BEAR of a guy and I think the POINT of ROMERO'S reaction to us fans at the conventions is "LET'S ALL BE SICK IN THE HEAD TOGETHER!!!!".

I love Romero.
