Review of Martian Child (2007) by Mike J — 15 Mar 2012
This movie was enjoyable enough. While it's a pretty basic story of people feeling out-of-place and looking for somewhere to belong, it does manage to be somewhat charming. The tone of the movie was a bit inconsistent, but I'm willing to forgive that on the grounds that our two main characters' relationship is a bit of a roller coaster itself.
Unfortunately, there's a point in the movie near the end (it's actually just one line) where any subtlety is undermined and almost completely destroyed. Once that point comes, the movie seems very sterile.
But for an innocent family film, it's pretty harmless.
