Review of Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) by Hannah H — 29 Jul 2013

Elizabeth Olsen makes a haunting performance in this less than satisfying film. Her psychological torment, and the subtle terror that comes from the cult she left behind, along with the fact that the entire film is beautifully shot makes me want to love it, but potential is nothing against an unripened plot.

I get that he's trying to focus on Olsen's damaged psyche, but that is no excuse for a lack of plot.
