Far From Heaven it is not. But it's still an emotionally truthful, lovingly crafted tribute to Douglas Sirk/Billy Wilder movies of the 40s and 50s. And there's a few scandalous plot twists thrown in to make you believe it might end miserably.

While the ending is far from "happy," it's certainly not what you'd initially expect. Patricia Clarkson is brill as ever, but good Lord is Chris Cooper fucking affecting as her conflicted husband.
