Review of Mark of the Vampire (1935) by Zoran S — 18 Oct 2008
Initially, I was going to watch White Tiger by Browning, but my copy is screwed up. So, looking through my Browning films for a suitable replacement, I forgot I had a dvd of this and that I hadnt watched it yet.
I am glad I did: This is a beautiful looking film, extremely well shot. It is definitely more entertaining than Dracula. At only 60mins, it moves along quickly and does not have too many pointless scenes.
My only complaint is that the "twist ending" is fairly silly and undercuts the moody atmosphere of the film.
