Review of Mark of the Vampire (1935) by Private U — 25 Mar 2008
Once you grasp the fact that many silent films and early talkies employed the red herring form more often than not, you'll find this comedic thriller charming, with a wonderful cast, including Lionel Atwill, Lionel Barrymore, and Lugosi, in a non-Dracula vampire role.
The highlight of this film is the trailer, where Lugosi steps out of character to warn theatregoers of the evils of vampires.
