Review of Margot at the Wedding (2007) by R.s. P — 22 Jan 2009
"Margot at the Wedding" is a pitch-black comedy. Margot (Nicole Kidman) is an unlikable character, yet I couldn't take my eyes off her. I had to keep watching this villainess to see what she would do next.
She is sharp-tongued, manipulative, and destructive. Her sister Pauline (Jennifer Jason Leigh) is just as smart as Margot, but she is a better person. The movie is subtle, but with its focus on Margot's dark side and her influence on her family, it seems to have caused some strong emotional reactions in its viewers.
This is not a great movie, but a watchable one.
