Review of Margot at the Wedding (2007) by Casey B — 23 Jan 2012
"The Squid and the Whale" was a brilliant portrait of a family in crisis. Baumbach's new film takes dysfunction to a whole new level, keenly deconstructing the relationship of two estranged sisters and their respective families on the eve of an ill-advised wedding.
Strong performances and a nuanced screenplay make for an entertaining (albeit uncomfortable) viewing experience. The ending is abrupt yet satisfying...
