Review of Marathon Man (1976) by Christie E — 01 Feb 2009
A very good thriller. Hoffman was 39 when he made this movie and you can't even tell. what a great character actor. the acting in this movie was the best thing to watch because we watched two different styles of acting in it.
Hoffman delivers a true organic performance based on the stanivloski method and lawerence olivier is a text book actor who never derives from the written script. it was fun to watch the special features of the dvd and see how these actors worked together to get what they wanted from each other.
the directing is incredible because its john schlesinger who just has such a strong sense of frame and understanding on the camera. A must watch.
